Our Commitment to Your Privacy
PDS® as your software provider has certain responsibilities related to protecting your data. Depending on whether you are hosting your PDS Vista® software on premises (on-premise) or PDS is hosting your Vista software on its computers (PDS hosted), the responsibilities vary. When PDS hosts your software for you, PDS has contractual obligations based on the contract with each organization.
PDS and Privacy Shield
PDS in Canada
PDS operates in Canada and has put into place a variety of privacy measures to comply with Canadian privacy statutes, such as the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and provincial privacy laws. Examples of these measures include; limitations on collection, use, disclosure, access and other processing, appropriate information security governance, training and education for service provider employees with access to personal information, audits, breach notification protocols, and data return or destruction requirements.
PDS and GDPR
In addition, we have reviewed and updated our practices to prepare for the new standards introduced by the European data protection law known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This new European Union (EU) data protection law, GDPR, takes effect on May 25, 2018. The GDPR gives individuals in the EU more control over how their data is used and places certain obligations on businesses that process information of those individuals.
