PDS Hosts F.N.B. Corporation’s Comprehensive HR,
Payroll and Benefits Applications

Headquartered in Hermitage, Pa., F.N.B. Corporation (NYSE: FNB) is a leading provider of banking, wealth management, insurance and consumer finance services in western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, where it employs more than 1,800 people within six affiliate businesses.

Challenges
In mid 2003, F.N.B. announced the spin off of its Florida business as a separate company. Its existing payroll system had been tied to the Florida operation, so it had a choice to remain with its existing solution or find a new system that could be operational in just five months.

F.N.B. decided to evaluate other options and focused on three vendors. It wanted an integrated, web-based HR, payroll and benefits solution that would allow for it to handle payroll in house, but outsource the technical aspects.

“We had a previous relationship with PDS and were very comfortable with its product,”explained Joanne Knapp, VP, Payroll/Benefits Accounting manager for F.N.B. “PDS had the IT and payroll expertise we needed and the hosting application that fit our requirements.”

PDS’ Vista HRMS
F.N.B. selected PDS’ Vista web-based HR, payroll and benefits solution. Utilizing PDS’ managed services model, PDS hosts F.N.B.’s Vista solution, configuring, managing and maintaining F.N.B.’s multiple locations from the PDS hosting center in Blue Bell, Pa. The hosting solution provides F.N.B. with complete access to its critical employee data, web-based access for managers and employees and comprehensive functionality without requiring the expertise of its IT department.

Back on the PDS system, F.N.B. now has an integrated HR, payroll and benefits system that can also interface with its other systems, like its time and attendance solution.

For example, each night, Vista automatically updates the time and attendance solution with new data. And, at each pay period, hours are extracted from the time and attendance system and imported into Vista to automatically generate payroll. Previously, this information was keyed into the payroll solution manually.

With PDS’ hosting solution, PDS handles all the tax updates and coding in the system as well as the hardware and software maintenance and F.N.B. is able to focus on processing its payroll.

On the benefits side, the Vista system calculates employee benefits eligibility, automatically notifies F.N.B. of enrollments, renewals and provides necessary reports and it also interfaces with the time and attendance solution to automatically track employee leave.
