In June of this year PDS released the latest version of the Vista series, Vista HRMS® 4.0. We are quite excited about the release as it includes a wide variety of new improvements that have been requested by our customers.
A very brief list of product improvements include:
- A number of navigation improvements and configuration capabilities have been added that will make getting around Vista even easier!
- Our new “Recruiting” application provides a large number of new features for both Internal applicants and External applicants, with a new requisition-driven model.
- Our new browser-based Check Calculator provides payroll with a tool to calculate a check for an individual and even deploy the tool for self-service use!
- The expanded direct deposit interface now provides the option to transmit child support payments!
- A new “Annual Pay History” page has been added to allow the drill-down into pay check historical information, with detailed earnings, deductions, fringes, taxes, etc.
- The Administration and Monitor tools have been moved to the browser!
Two clients, The IMA Financial Group, Inc., and Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. have both upgraded from Vista 3.2 and gone “live” on the new version. See their newsletter articles that highlight their experiences!
We currently have many new customer installations as well as over a dozen upgrade implementations under way. Customers who are moving from 3.2 to 4.0 have found the migration to be a straight-forward process.
Clients who are moving from 2.4.1 directly to Vista HRMS 4.0 have a bit more work to do to migrate to the new version, as many had not yet deployed the web browser toolset.
With the release of Vista HRMS 4.0, the inevitable question of ‘how long will PDS continue to support older versions?' comes up. PDS plans to announce the version support schedule later this year once we've gained more migration experience. However it is clear that we will not enhance older versions such as Vista 2.4.1 and Vista 3.2. Vista 3.2 will only receive updates as needed, (such as CTS revisions, tax updates, and social security validation changes). All new development is planned for the Vista HRMS series.
If you are joining us in Jupiter, Florida, you'll be able to learn much more about the Vista HRMS 4.0 release as we'll start off the conference with a demonstration of the new version. We'll also feature a session highlighting what you'll need to know to get ready for your own upgrade. If you have questions about your own upgrade path contact your sales representative or Marty Wilson at mwilson@pdssoftware.com.
