I remember as a child waiting for my birthday or Christmas and time just seemed to crawl by. I thought the eventful day would never arrive! Then there were those summer days where the afternoons seemed never ending. An hour seemed like 10, and a day could drag on to eternity. I find myself longing for those hours that I thought would never pass. Time goes by all too fast! The days are a blur, weeks come and go, birthdays are all to frequent and the rush of the holidays seem to come and go so fast it's hard to believe that there are 365 days between the holidays.
For me one of the fastest things on the calendar is year-end processing! Preparing for year-end is something that I am certain comes around faster year after year. It does seem like just last week that we were passing out those W-2s. Where does the time go?
Is it that I'm older now and just can't remember what happened over the last 365 days? Well, I hate to tell you that it is time to pull out that year-end folder and start getting ready for the crazy days ahead. Start making those lists, ordering W-2s, cleaning up bank reconciliations, and making sure all taxes are in balance. Make sure any special payrolls are scheduled, addresses are verified, and don't forget to download the 2008 W-4s! If you are lucky there will be a little time left over to sit down and have some holiday turkey with your family.
